SourcesWhat data do we collect?
Makineo collects information about events, artists, venues, and promoters from public sources to build an up-to-date catalogue of the electronic music scene in Spain.
- Events: name, date, time, location, lineup, genre, price, image
- Artists: name, genres, social media, discography
- Venues: name, location, address, public contact details, opening hours
- Photos: event posters, venue images, promotional material
Where do we collect it from?
Public and authorized sources:
Authorized scraping
- — Public venue websites (where robots.txt permits it)
- — Public social media posts (Facebook, Instagram)
- — Public databases (Discogs, Beatport for artists)
- — Blogs and event pages (respecting robots.txt)
Respectful methods
- — We respect each site's `robots.txt`
- — Identified User-Agent: "Makineo Event Crawler"
- — Rate limit: maximum 1 request/second per domain
- — We do not use proxies or VPNs to evade blocks
- — We respect `X-Robots-Tag` headers and `noindex`
Methods we do NOT use
- — ✗ Password cracking or unauthorized access
- — ✗ CAPTCHA-bypass systems
- — ✗ Use of private APIs without consent
- — ✗ Impersonating browsers to conceal origin
Intellectual property rights
We acknowledge that some data may be protected by copyright:
- — Event descriptions: may be © of the organizer
- — Images/posters: © of the photographer or venue
- — Artist data: compilation © of original sources (Beatport, RA)
Our use of this data is:
- — Informational: we list events for discovery purposes, not for sale
- — Attributive: we link back to original sources
- — Transformative: we aggregate, categorize, and enrich the data
- — Non-competitive: we do not sell access to data; the platform is free
Opt-out for venues and artists
If you are a venue, promoter, or artist and do NOT want your data to appear on Makineo:
Option 1: Direct email
Send an email to [email protected] with:
- — Subject: "Makineo Exclusion Request"
- — Name of the venue / artist / promoter
- — Why you do NOT want to appear (no obligation to explain)
- — Proof that you are the responsible party (official email, etc.)
Timeframe: Removal within 48-72 hours maximum.
Option 2: Robots.txt (for scrapers)
If you have a public website, you can block Makineo's scraper with:
User-Agent: Makineo Event Crawler Disallow: /
Option 3: Meta tag on your website
Add this to the <head> of your website:

Personal data of venues/artists
If our scraping incidentally captures personal data (email, phone number, private address):
- — We do not publish it: we only display public information (name, city, public phone number)
- — We do not share it: internal data is not passed on to third parties
- — GDPR compliant: if you request access/deletion, you have rights under the GDPR (Art. 6.1.f — legitimate interest + fair processing)
- — You may request: access, rectification, or erasure at [email protected]
Commitments and limits
Makineo abides by the following limits:
We do not scrape private social media accounts
Only public content (hashtags, fan pages)
We do not replicate commercial databases
Beatport, RA, Ticketmaster: we only reference/aggregate
We do not attack, block, or brute-force
Non-intrusive scraping, respecting rate limits and authorized access
We honour third-party requests
If RA, Beatport, etc. ask us to stop, we stop
Data updates
How we keep data up to date:
- — Automatic scraping: we check sources once a week
- — User input: users can report incorrect changes
- — Direct contact: venues/artists can send us updates directly
- — History: we retain a previous version of any changes
